Welcome To Queen of the Rosary Secondary School

The Holy Rosary sisters began the school now known as Queen of the Rosary Secondary School as a convent Primary School in January, 1958 and was headed by Sr. Catherine Macgil (1958-1962), its second headmistress Dorathy M. kpojime took over from 1962-1963.

Because of the absence of a secondary school to cater for the girl-child education in the former Benue Province of the Northern Region of Nigeria, The Holy Rosary Sisters sought for permission to operate one.

In October 1962, the Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education gave permission. Consequently, Queen of the Rosary Secondary School Gboko took off officially in January 1963 by admitting the first set of 24 girls with Mother Sebastian now Sr. Edith Dynan as the first principal. In 1964-1968 Sr. Monica Devine took over leadership of the school from Mother Sebatian – See Memoirs of the Sr. Monica Devine.
